I've been very Bizzy this week

Wow...this week has flown by it seems! Which is good b/c I've been mourning leaving Indiana everyday. I've kept myself busy with playing with Shelby, cleaning, washing clothes (which I've yet to finish) and sewing... I've finished a lot this week!
Here's all I've done this week...
Razorback Wipe Case

Baby boy diaper bag set ( diaper bag with 6 interior pockets and a wipe case)

This diaper bag has 4 different fabrics used on the outside! I don't get asked to do very many boy bags so this was soooo fun!!!!

And last but not least an outfit for MY DAUGHTER! I know! Shocker! I rarely get to sew for her and for fun where I have no limits but when I'm waiting on fabrics to come in for the orders I do have I decided to make use of my day (Shelby goes to Miss Minna's on Wed. while I sew on that day and do things for me).
Peasant dress 2t and matching NEW Vintage Ruffle clip.

These are the TRUE colors...

The "vintage" part are the jewels. This was an earring of my grandmas and I only use her pieces on items I do not sell. I cannot bear to part with any of them but love to see them put to use so I use them on things for Shelby or myself or family. This little clip is made from a new idea I had while I was ruffling some ribbon and thought I'd make it into a flower and needed some pop of teal to match the dress so I added some tulle and a delicate feather. I love how it turned out! I think this will be shelby's Sunday outfit! I'll pair the dress up with some leggings since it's still cool here. Oh and one more new thing from this week...well its used but new to us...

No more Malibu! Josh found me my dream car, Cadillac CTS!! I loveeee it! I have never loved a car, other than the VW Bug I had, than this one. Perfect combo of size and style for us! It also is loaded with the Luxury Package! I've always told Josh I'm not a min-van momma but never dreamed I'd be a Caddy Cutie! We've already named it...The BatMobile. Haha Josh named it that b/c of all the gadgets and whistles it has. Lol...any hoo....
Glad to see the sun again but hating what it's doin to shelby's allergies!

Woot Woot Wednesday

So before I could edit and complete this post, my computer died and published what I wrote, which was totally raw and NOT DONE....I"m sorry....Here's my finished one.. :)
Today's Woot Woot Wednesday is all about Best Friends, or BFF's as I like to say....
I"m blessed enough to have at least 3 BFF's!

Josh is and will always be My #1 BFF

Just had to throw this one in b/c it's TOO CUTE to pass up!! I think Shelby has SEVERAL BFF's...

BFF's are hard to come by! Josh, Shelby & Nichole are my cherished ones...NOW, in case you are in SHOCK, GOD and MY MOM are in a league of their own WAAAYYY above the BFF status so they are high above this! :) Josh & Shelby are in Both! :)....ok so i feel like i'm diggin a hole and fallin deeper and deeper into it...lol... SORRY.... HOPEFULLY you all know what I mean!!! lol and then theres also Ashley, who's my hubby's BFF's wife who's also become one of my BFF's :)...

BFF's, to me, are those that you're closest with but are not THE ONLY friends you have. These people know you FOR YOU and accept you for you.....
I wanna hear about how special your friends are to you!! Feel free to email me or message me and I'd love to hear about your "specials!"
So when Shelby was 10 months old, we did a photoshoot w/ Stacy and there were TOO MANY good shots to mention but one always stuck out in my head and as one of my fav's b/c it expressed how I feel inside on the outside...she has that gift! This is that picture....
the rest of the pictures from this shoot can be seen at this post and in the posts prior to this one too...
Recently a dear friend of mine, Mrs. Claus, took this picture of Shelby and I and I didn't even know she took it but it's obvious I'm still smitten even 12 months later!!! I'm in awe how much Shelby has grown but still can't imagine my heart being any bigger for this little girl but she  proves me wrong every day!!

One last thing,
I've started a new addition to my sewing for little ones..
blankets....
I made this one for a dear friend who doesn't know I"ve made this for her little one to be but I can't wait to give it to her as well as MANY goodies from Little Darling Designs (this is her new blog) and here's her ETSY shop. She's a great friend (yet another from Indiana..lol) and WONDERFUL designer and sewer! I wish I had an embroidery machine like she has!
This blanket is simple, yet elegant.. the fabric is what makes it...I love it and what's better for a little girl than PINK RIGHT? :)... I used a delicate floral vine stitch on the edges near the frays....

I used a whimsical print and a traditional print...this is a soft flannel that can be used as a breastfeeding cover or a cuddly blankie to keep baby warm... :)....

And I finished an Arkansas Razorback wipe case!

ok..that's all folks!
thank you for reading my blog, all 3 of you..LOL

Strawberry Swirl Cream Cheese Pound Cake

Today (Saturday) is mammy's bday and Josh wanted me to bake her a special treat so I tried a new recipe that came straight from Southern Living! Lol.... I can't take it as my own unfortunately. I NEVER try recipes from magazines b/c they are always too wordy and my peabrain usually never understands past the ingredients. Lol. Now sewing I can figure out but in the kitchen it MUST be easy and on a pre-K level! Lol.... So...when Josh says, "hey, make mammy this..." and hands me the magazine I immediately became flushed and saw stars b/c I was scared but...this is easy and from scratch but NOT healthy by ANY means or fashion! I guess you could substitute ingredients to make it healthy but who wants to do that!?

Ok, so here's the recipe...
Makes: 12 servings (unless ur like us, it makes 6! Lol )
Hands-on time: 25 min. (1 HR for me)
Total time: 2 HR 35 min ( well not me....more like...well u know)

Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups of softened butter
3 cups of sugar
1 (8oz) package of softened cream cheese
6 large eggs ( I used locally grown eggs from a friend and OMG they r goooood)
3 cups of all-purpose flour
1 tsp almond extract
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
2/3 cup strawberry glaze ( the magazine and myself recommend Marzetti Glaze for Strawberries)
1 (6") wooden skewer (I used my Pamphered Chef cake tester thingy)

Ok so here goes... You MUST not miss or alter a step! And I now realize why I need a standup mixer (not only b/c the recipe says I do which is a good enough excuse for me, but that my little 7 yr old mixer sounded like it was gonna die any minute as well as my arms and having to mix and "gradually add" ingredients.lol)...

1. Preheat oven to 350degrees. Beat butter at medium speed with a heavy-duty electric stand mixer ( I swear this is exactly what it says!! Pg. 116 march edition of SL!) until creamy. Gradually add sugar bearing at med speed until light and fluffy. add cream cheese, beating until creamy. Add eggs, 1 at a time, bearing just until blended after each addition.

2. Gradually add flour to butter mixture. Beat at low speed just until blended after each addition, stopping only to scrape the bowl as needed( or your arms fall off like mine did from my hand mixer). Stir in almond and vanilla extracts. Pour 1/3 of batter into a greased and floured 10" (14 cup, or just use a bunt pan like me) tube pan. Dollop 8 rounded tsps of strawberry glaze over batter and swirl w/ the skewer. Repeat procedure once and then top w/ remaining third of batter (I didn't do this right b/c my swirls weren't pretty but it tasted just as good!).

3. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 HR to 1 HR 10 min ( I did mine for 1 HR bottom rack 15 min top rack) test w/ your skewer until it comes out clean ( when u stick it in and nothing comes off on the skewer). Completely cool before removing it from the pan.

DONE!!! Easy peasy!!!! I topped it off w/ fresh strawberries and cool whip! Mmmmmmmmmmmmm

Hanging w/ the Hawkins

Yeahp! We are back! Indiana was a blast!!! Shelby did awesome on the planes (we had a 3 hr lay-over in Chicago on the way and then an hour long one on the way home) but she was soo well behaved and even slept some on the planes! :) We were very grateful for the iPad though! OMG! It was a lifesaver! Yo Gabba Gabba, Dora and Mickey Mouse Clubhouse play over and over in my head now! LOL... more so than before! lol
Anyhoo...this trip was sooo good and wonderful! Seeing and meeting Nichole's in-laws was great! Seeing Indiana was awesome too! Its soo different than Arkansas! The weather was great and diverse! We had 75 degrees to 32 degrees, sunshine, rain and snow! LOL... anyhoo..here's the pics from the trip...

Sad to be goin home :(

Cambry's sad too :(

Sweet bedtime story w/ Noah and Cambry

Shelby's mean face she was givin in the airport during our layover in Chicago on the way home...lol

Shelby was worn out!!! We had soo much fun!! We took the girls to their Wonder Lab (i think that's what it was called) in Bloomington (they actually live in "the sticks" somewhere outside of Linton but w/ a Jasonville mailing address..lol...) and the girls would have stayed all day if we let them! There was a bubble room and the girls went gaa gaa over it! I didn't get a pic of it :( the majority of my pics are Blackberry snapshots lol....easy and accessible! lol.... Shelby now has a Cici doll (that's what Cambry named hers) and Shelby loves it! It's a reminder of Cambry :)....we had a blast and I didn't wanna come home at all!!

Nichole and I are so much alike and are truly best friends that onlyGod can put together. To think that two girls 10 hours away fr each other could be best friends is logically nuts but in God all things are possible and I've truly come to know!! We talk/text every day and for our hubbies to even agree to meet up once is a God-thing not to mention mine agreeing to fly w/ an almost 2 yr old to stay at a home in a state we've never even heard of!! Lol GOD did this!! She's here for me even when she's there and she let's me cry on her shoulder even when it's 10 hrs away in her own home. Only God could also pick my best gal friend ( just makin sure when is say BFF that u know God and Josh are 1st) to have a daughter who's 6 days younger than Shelby and is in the same stages of life!! Even down to the annoying kid shows!! Lol. I love u Lord for placing Nichole and her family in my life and for allowing me the opportunity to see her, even though it's not as often as I like to, and for opening our husbands hearts to our friendship. It's gotta be tough to even consider something as logically insane as, "hey baby, let's fly 10 hrs away for a week and stay in the basement with people we don't know for me to see my BFF I've only seen one other time." lol. But God did this and everything with Gid is good! And this friendship is banana puddin good! I love ya Nichole! Miss u tons already...
