Our little rider...

Our family is blessed...
Not only blessed with health and happiness but with amazing kids who never cease to amaze us.  Shelby had her 5ht lesson last week and when we arrived to Shaw Performance Horses ranch for her lesson we didn't see Midnight in his pen or ready for her and one of  Mr. Alan's workers said, "oh he's put out in the pasture. See?"  He was far out and happily eating. :) She then told Shelby, "You're going to ride Badger now!" She was a bit upset that she wasn't riding her precious Welsh (Welch) Pony, Midnight, any longer but was SUPER excited when she met Badger.  He's GORGEOUS! His left eye is blue with white eye lashes and his right eye is brown. He's sooo sweet and gentle too. He's a big horse and she was more excited to know he was a big horse and faster. Mr. Alan said she was ready and ready for a horse with more speed and get-up! :) haha...
There's more news too....

Sweet Blue....good ole ranch dog!

I finished Mr. Alan's pallet for him to take to World. He loved it and I was soo glad and relieved!

Sweet Badger

this is one of my favorite pics of her...

When she was finished with her lesson and we were about to leave, Mr. Alan told Ms. Linda, "Hey, I think she's ready for Lead-Line in Ruston on the 30th."  I thought he meant June 30th but he meant MAY 30th!!  She will do her first show the end of this month!! THAT'S NOT THIS WEEKEND BUT THE NEXT! :) She is sooo excited and so am I! :) Wow.... I never dreamed she would learn this fast and be this driven.  She is not afraid to command and control the horse all the while being gentle, patting him, caressing him and beaming from ear to ear.  She got to trot for the first time too and felt how different it feels REALLY trotting and the strength and balance it takes.  She is counting the days til her next lesson and her first show. :) I can't believe our baby is now a member of Shaw Performance Horses.  We love being apart of this family and learning more and more. I've got a LONG WAY TO GO to learning horses and all that it takes to be the mom of a rider.  We are even talking of selling our home, finding a home w/ land or building because we know eventually we will have to have horses for this girl and we want her to have the space and learn what it takes to care for them.  This is a LONG WAY from coming and we are thankful to have Mr. Alan and Ms. Linda to teach her and not only show her how to ride but how to care for horses herself.  We see a future in her and we want her to succeed. :)  I'm so shocked to see how passionate she is and how this truly is her dream and seeing it unfold is awesome.  Guess I better continue to brush up on country living and how it works.. LOL....
